The maker
John V. Foshée, gained a love for the cigar as a career Florida cop. The homicide investigators would smoke them outside the scenes. John began enjoying cigars as a relaxation method along with another hobby, hand tool woodworking. Using old tools and techniques, a fascination with furniture built with no electricity, only sharp tools and skill, led to a journey in hand tool woodworking.
A mixture of the two hobbies came when a search for a humidor to keep the hand rolled masterpieces in revealed a large selection of cheaply and poorly built imported boxes. There was little or no available USA made options. Combining the passion for cigars and hand tool woodworking, an idea emerged.
A historian by education and passion, a love and fascination for the history of his home state of Florida developed. The original Spanish explorers were responsible for the discovery of the natives use of tobacco and later global exportation of tobacco.
Juan Ponce De Leon, a Spanish explorer, landed on the Eastern coast of Florida and named the area La Florida (Land of Flowers) This is John’s home and where he makes the Humidors you will see here.
